Recommendations and Advertisements
Status: No ads so far -- see FAQs.

Abstract:
This page is used to promote technical things I think are worth drawing attention to. I also use this page for payed advertisements. Actually, this page is the only place where advertisements are placed on this website/platform. There are no limitations to the nature of advertisements as long as they are morally and ethnically all right. What I do not accept is proprietary software, porn, religion, violence, politics, ... the usual boring nonsense. For more information/questions with regards to advertisements, please take a look at the FAQs page or contact me.

Advertising Free Software Projects
For now, only some featured FLOSS (Free/Libre Open Source Software)
projects of mine I would like to recommend:
- LXC (Linux Containers), operating system-level virtualization for
Linux. It is part of mainline since 2.6.29 and therefore available
with any standard Debian kernel. IRC channel:
#lxcontainers on
freenode.
- OpenVZ, probably the best operating system-level virtualization
solution available. Currently (April 2010) it is more mature than
LXC but then LXC has the benefit of being entirely in mainline once
it has matured enough.
- iRedMail, probably the best enterprise-class mail-system available.
The forum, mailing list: iredmail@googlegroups.com respectively
http://groups.google.com/group/iredmail and the IRC channel:
#iredmail on freenode.
- Monkeysphere (using SSH (Secure Shell) is one thing but
establishing trust is a whole different can of worms). Why not use
the well-known and proven WOT (Web of Trust) in order to add the
notion of a trust-framework to SSH?! Said and done. Monkeysphere at
our service ...
- MongoDB is a so-called NoSQL DBMS (Database Management System). Its
most notable key-features are: open source, horizontally scalable,
very fast, schema-free, document-oriented, written in the C++ with
native drivers to most programming languages out there e.g. Java,
Python, Perl, PHP, Ruby, C++, C, etc.
- Pinax is an open-source platform built on top of the Django web
application framework. It is all Python under the hood.
I wrote an article with information about how to join the IRC network
for those who might be new to the entire IRC (Internet Relay Chat)
thingy ;-]
